It's All About Him!

Our Staff

"And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers for the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry" Ephesians 4:11-12

Brother Tom James - Senior Pastor

Bro. Tom joined the ministry team in October 2004. He has previously served three other churches as pastor. He holds a B.A. from Stetson University and a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is married to his best friend, Jan; and God has blessed their family with three beautiful children: Leah, a graduate of North Greenville University in Tigerville, South Carolina. Leah currently lives in Cramerton, NC, and will be married in April, 2010. Andrew is a Freshman at Western Kentucky University, and Aaron is a Sophomore at Greenwood High School.

Bro. Tom is an expository preacher who is passionate about the Word of God. He has a heart for seeing those who do not know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior enter into a personal relationship with the Lord. Eastwood, under Bro. Tom's leadership, hopes to have an on-going mission partnership on each continent before 2014.  Currently, the church has on-going annual mission partnerships on 4 of the 6 continents (excluding Antarctica). His life verse, Galatians 2:20, serves currently as the theme verse for Eastwood.  GO TOPPERS & NOLES!

Greg Swack - Associate Pastor of Senior Adults & Pastoral Care

Greg was born in Bowling Green and grew up at Eastwood.  He graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1995 and was "Big Red" his senior year.  He graduated from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2003.  He began serving on staff at Eastwood in August, 1998.  He loves ministering alongside those in the "second half" of life and he believes the "second half" should be the best half!  He enjoys WKU sports, traveling, playing piano, and spending time with the rest of the "Swack clan."

Dana Ellis - Associate Pastor of Worship

Dana Ellis is Eastwood’s energetic Minister of Worship and Music since October of 2005.  He is also known as “Mr. Happy” (a nickname given by some of the children) due to his enthusiasm and joy evident during the spirited worship services.  He and his wife Phyllis who works at Briarwood Elementary have two grown and married children.  Heather, and her husband Kevin, live in Nashville while Toby, and his wife Jennifer, live in East Texas.  Dana grew up in Dallas, Texas, so you will certainly get his attention when talking about the Dallas Cowboys or NBA Mavericks.  He plays a variety of instruments including piano, bass, guitar, and drums.  He loves all types of music and has been part of a semi-professional Gospel Quartet (The Heightsmen) for 18 years.  He feels strongly in leading others in worship to our Lord Jesus Christ and has a deep desire to see people grow, not only musically in that experience, but spiritually. When not at church, you will find Dana fishing or working in his yard.  Both he and Phyllis love Kentucky’s trees with gorgeous Fall colors and the sweetest people on God’s green earth.

Dr. Don R. Mathis - Staff Evangelist

Jan Stickle - Director of Preschool / Children's Ministry

Jan joined the staff of Eastwood Baptist Church in July of 2000, as Director of Preschool and Children’s Ministries seeking to provide a safe, loving, accepting, and fun environment in which children will come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.  Jan has been married to Fred, her best friend, for 35 years and has four children, two wonderful children by marriage, and five grandchildren.

Jan attended Cedarville University and Western Kentucky University graduating with a B.A. in education. Several years later she completed her M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Jan is passionate about spending time with her family, loves music, and will always be a faithful Cleveland Browns fan!

Shirley Meador - Business Administrator
Shirley began working at Eastwood May 1, 1997 shortly after moving "back home to Kentucky" from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma where she had lived for 21 years and recently served as Administrative Assistant to the Pastor of First Baptist Church, BA.  She and her husband, Don, have three children and four grandchildren presently residing in Bowling Green, Broken Arrow and Brazil.  Needless to say, travel is a favorite spare time activity, especially since being separated by distance from grandchildren.  Her favorite Scripture is Proverbs 3:5-6
