After the Sunday morning worship services, our group will head to the Nashville airport for our flight to Houston and then on to Harlingen, TX.
· Pray specifically that the travel will go smoothly as we have an extremely short connection time window in Houston.
Once we arrive in Harlingen, we will travel an hour by bus to the UTRI camp in Alamo, TX.
Pray that all of our luggage arrives so we can share Eastwood’s generosity of socks and underwear with the people where we will be working.
· Pray for the strength and stamina of the UTRI staff that will be working with us. One of the missionary families, Shawn and Carla Estes, is from Glasgow, KY.
· Pray that we will be an encouragement to the UTRI staff.
· Pray for the health and safety of our families at home.
Monday, February 22 through Thursday, February 25
Our group will cross the border into Mexico each morning and return to the United States each night.
· Pray that we will move through customs and immigration procedures efficiently each day.
· Pray for the health and stamina of each team member.
· Pray for unity of purpose among the team throughout the week.
Most of our time will be spent at an orphanage located about an hour’s drive from the border over very rough roads. The orphanage is home to nearly 40 children; 3 ladies care for and homeschool the children. Previous mission teams have started several projects at this site that have never been finished. Much of the plumbing is in severe disrepair and several areas of the facility are incomplete. In addition to these numerous construction and repair projects, we will assist in the kitchen and laundry and work with the children in the classroom.
· Pray that the love of Jesus will show in all that we do and say and that our faces will shine with His love.
· Pray that we will develop a relationship with the orphanage staff and children that will carry forward in a potential future partnership.
Our team will also assist with a worship service at a men’s homeless shelter. This camp
serves as transitional housing for men who have been deported from the U.S. and dropped at the border. The men usually stay for a few days or longer until they can make arrangements to travel home.
· Pray that we will recognize divine appointments and opportunities to share Jesus with the men.
· Pray for Tom Jopling as he prepares and preaches in Spanish.
Friday, February 26
Our team will pack up and head back to Harlingen, TX, for a late afternoon flight back to Nashville via Houston. As we spend time reflecting on our experiences in Mexico, pray that God will impress on each of our hearts how He desires for us to serve Him.
· Pray that the lessons we have learned and the bonds we have formed with the UTRI staff, the people of Reynosa, and each other will be long-lasting and God-centered.
· Pray especially for the two youth on our team, Scotty Harris and Danielle Jopling, that their experiences will last a lifetime.
